An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is a qualification that assesses someone’s competence (that is the skills, knowledge and understanding they have) within a work situation. NVQs are based on the national occupational standards that describe the level and breadth of performance expected of individuals whose work involves the chosen qualification.

All NVQs on offer from PfL are funded by the Learning & Skills Council and so can be offered to you at no cost.

However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria to qualify for the funding:

  • Be either employed, self-employed or a volunteer.
  • Be aged over 19.
  • Have been a UK resident for the last 3 years
  • Not be on any other government-funded training programme.
