KIERAN HANNON
Partnership for Learning celebrates Apprentices of the Year 2003
Kieran Hannon, a third year apprentice at commercial vehicle bodybuilders Brit-Tipp Ltd of Warrington has been named Apprentice of the Year by Speke-based training charity Partnership for Learning (PfL).
Kieran, who lives in Runcorn, said he was “over the moon” to have won the accolade. He was one of five award winners nominated by their employers for an award by PfL, which runs apprentice schemes with major local employers including Jaguar Cars, Getrag, F&G Stainless and Tracoinsa Systems UK.
Brit-Tipp’s Managing Director, Gary Miller, said Kieran was a worthy winner. “We put Kieran’s name forward because his attitude to work, colleagues and office staff is outstanding. His workmanship, honesty and ability to absorb information are the best we’ve seen in a long time. He also has a 100 per cent timekeeping and attendance record.”
Lisa Perry, PfL’s Works Based Learning Manager added: “We wanted to celebrate the achievements of all our apprentices through these awards and I would like to congratulate all of them on their success.
“Our apprenticeship programme offers young people the chance to learn a trade to a professionally recognised level with full employee status in over 90% of cases from day one.
“Because of this, and the quality of training and support we offer at PfL, I’m pleased to say that there’s no shortage of committed young people wanting to take advantage of this training. We currently have around 60 people on the programme and this year we have had over 250 applications for the 24 apprentice places on offer.
“We are also very proud of our retention and achievement rates” she added “which are 20% above the national average.”
