BURSARY SUCCESS STORIES

Partnership for Learning’s true success is measured in the many thousands of individuals and organisations who have acquired new skills with our help.

Now in its fifth successful year, PfL’s bursary programme supports over 1,000 individuals each year with free training – training which for many of them has led to employment.

Here’s what some of our Bursary students have to say:

"I had been unemployed for 12 months. While I was having my regular interview with my advisor at Garston Job Centre, I explained that I would like the opportunity to complete a Fork Lift Truck Course.

On the 5th February 2004 I attended a Train Ability assessment at Partnership for Learning, which led me onto the on-line training which gave me an insight on how the Fork Lift Truck worked. After completing the first two stages I was given a date for the 5 day Counterbalance course. I attended the Counterbalance course w/c 23rd February 2004 and successfully passed.

I gained employment at Scott Contractors Ltd in January 2005 working as a Labourer / Fork Lift Truck Driver."

I would like to thank PfL and the Bursary Fund for helping me achieve my licenses and certificates as I would not have been able to gain employment without my their help.

“Our trainees found the course gave them a better understanding of how to care for others and was very enjoyable. As an organisation, the bursary has given us a chance to develop the skills of our people and to demonstrate their worth to us.” St Mary’s Care Centre, Halewood.

Dear Alex

"On behalf of the Silver Circle Ladies Group, Halewood, I wish to thank you and the management of Partnership for Learning for a most informative and enjoyable day on our Hygiene Course.

The course was very helpful, the tutor was excellent, she demonstrated her subject clearly with understanding and humour.

We enjoyed our lunch very much, also not to be forgotten our grateful thanks to our driver for all his help and courtesy to us all.

Hoping in the future we will once again participate in another subject.

Our grateful thanks to you all"

Best Wishes
from the Silver Circle

During a recent prolonged spell of unemployment I found myself in a corner with no apparent way out.

"My problem was although I had taken my fork lift truck test with PfL Ltd 5 years ago, every position i applied for came with a stipulation of a refresher course having been taken within the last 3 years.

A friend suggested I contacted PfL Ltd again and to my delight they consented to funding refresher courses for me through the Bursary Fund.

I am now armed with fresh licences and qualified to rejoin the work force.

Many thanks to PfL and keep up the good work!"
