Partnership for Learning celebrates Apprentices of the Year 2004

Anna Beddoes, a first year adult apprentice at Jaguar Cars Ltd, has been named Apprentice of the Year by South Merseyside-based training firm Partnership for Learning (PfL)

Anna, was one of 13 award winners nominated by their employers for an award by PfL, which runs apprentice schemes with major local employers including Jaguar Cars, Getrag, F&G Stainless, Tracoinsa Systems UK, Sonae and Rolls Royce.

They received their awards on Friday 9 July from former Everton star Derek Mountfield at a ceremony at PfL’s training facility on .  Anna was nominated for the award by Neil Johnson from , where she is studying mechanical engineering as part of her first year training. Mr Johnson said: “Anna came to St. Helens with previous engineering knowledge but her attitude to learning has been an example to others, having a willingness to re-learn. She bonded well with the younger apprentices and has encouraged team work within the training period.

 He went on: “Anna participated well on all the outdoor activities, in some cases, encouraging others with her efforts. She has organised evenings out with her peer group with great success. She is an exceptional apprentice with a lot of special talents.

”Gordon Burns, PfL’s Chief Executive added: “We wanted to celebrate the achievements of all our apprentices through these awards and I would like to congratulate all of them on their success.

“Our apprenticeship programme offers people the chance to learn a trade to a professionally recognised level with full employee status from day one of the programme.  PfL will be expanding its apprenticeship provision to support wider engagement with engineering employers over the next twelve months.”
