IN THE COMMUNITY
OUTREACH
Partnership for Learning (Pf L) is opening up learning opportunities for groups of people in the community who might otherwise have difficulty accessing our premises.
In May 2003, our e-learning centre set up project in partnership with the Speke Resource Centre to help adults with physical and learning disabilities to acquire basic IT, literacy and numeracy skills.
The learning is delivered free of charge at the centre itself and funded by the Learning and Skills Council’s Skills for Life programme.
Pf L provides laptops and other hardware as well as a tutor for the weekly two hour sessions. The learning resources (books, CD ROMs etc) are provided through learndirect.
The project has now been expanded to cover five centres in Speke, Netherley, Garston and Norris Green.
We are keen to expand the project to other hard-to-reach groups across Merseyside, such as older people and others with mobility or access problems.
